Meeting Your Challenge

A few years ago, Alex Wilson challenged Sarnafil US, Inc., to recycle its old roofs [see

EBN Vol. 10, No. 9].

I am pleased to inform

Environmental Building News that Sarnafil has invested over $1 million to install state of the art recycling equipment at our Canton, Massachusetts facility.

We now recycle all of our production waste and scrap back into our finished product, and are the first roofing manufacturer in the U.S. to offer to take back any membrane scraps left over from the roof application. We also launched a program to take back our old roofs when their service lives come to an end, making ours the first closed-loop recycled roof membrane in North America.

Alex, we do listen!
