Building Enclosure Commissioning: Ensuring Durable and Energy-Efficient Buildings

We carefully select equipment to improve the temperature, humidity, and quality of the air that flows through our buildings. We install additional systems to direct water that moves in and out of the building. Still other systems manage the distribution of electricity throughout the building.

And yet all of these systems can’t do their jobs if the building enclosure system isn’t functioning properly. As the primary barrier between the interior and exterior environments, the enclosure defines all other loads. An airtight shell is the primary tactic for controlling the movement of air, heat, moisture, light, and noise into and out of the building—all other systems are supplementary. So there is a lot to be gained from a process that can verify its quality and effectiveness.
