Landmark Obama Climate Speech Calls for Less Carbon, More Resilience

President Obama Tuesday announced a sweeping plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions—and prepare for the effects of climate change—using executive powers rather than legislation.
Expressing disappointment with “partisan gridlock” in Congress, the president told students at Georgetown University, “I refuse to condemn your generation and future generations to a planet that’s beyond fixing.”
