When faced with my own home reroofing project, I was happy to find three independant companies in my state (Connecticut) dedicated to recycling asphalt shingles for the road-paving industry. Through my contractor I arranged for the delivery of the appropriately-sized dedicated dumpster to receive the old shingles and then haul it back to the recycling company. That was one huge environmentally -weighted concern lifted off my shoulders. My first stop in the process however, was EBN which had highlighted the the recycling industry in a past article. THANK YOU EBN !
News Brief
Asphalt Shingle Recycling Program Launched
Owens Corning has announced that it will partner with Heritage Environmental Services to offer a national recycling program for its asphalt shingles. The program will provide contractors with access to recycling facilities nationwide through Owens Corning’s preferred contractor program, making recycling convenient and cost-effective. According to Owens Corning, this is the first program of its kind.
When recycled, asphalt shingles are ground up and added to hot-mix asphalt used in road construction and repair. More information is available at roofing.owenscorning.com.
