NFRC Redesigns Rating Procedures
Along with the new testing procedures, NFRC has unveiled an updated “temporary energy performance label”—the peel-off sticker that appears on the product itself (see example, above right). Reflecting the procedural switch to a single size, the new label records just one number for each rating. Mandatory information on the label includes manufacturer’s name or ID number, the product type, and a description of the product’s glazing, including gas fill or low-emissivity qualities. Optional details are the
Certified Products Directory number, air space thickness, coating emissivity, spacer type, manufacturer product information from an independent inspection agency, glazing tint or reflective coating, and manufacturer contact information. SI (metric) units may be included, but more conventional I-P (English) units are the standard.
