Apology from Waterless on Falcon Waterfree Urinals

Please reference the letter from me that was published in the May 2002 issue of

Environmental Building News (

Vol. 11, No. 5). We would appreciate your publication of the following retraction/apology.

1. American Standard. We regret erroneously informing your readers that American Standard does not recognize the Falcon water free urinal product. The fact of the matter is that American Standard does, indeed, have a business relationship with Falcon Waterfree Technologies, including the manufacturing of ceramic bowls used for Falcon’s water free urinals.

2. ANSI Standards. We regret erroneously implying that Falcon’s water free urinal system is not approved and not likely to be approve in the near future. The fact of the matter is that IAPMO’s published Interim Guide Criteria (IGC) apply to Falcon’s products and effectively bridge the gap toward ANSI Standards.

3. Falcon Waterfree Technologies’ Public Statements. We regret inaccurately informing your readers that Falcon may not be forthright with the public or with inspectors. The fact of the matter is that we are not aware of a single instance when there has been any controversy with an inspector concerning Falcon or Falcon’s water free urinal system, nor are we aware of any inaccuracies in the product specifications or compliance certifications stated in Falcon’s promotional literature.

We, therefore, wish to retract our earlier statements to the contrary and apologize to Falcon, its customers, and your readers for any inaccurate statements in this regard.

We sincerely regret using your May 2002 newsletter to disseminate inaccurate information concerning Falcon’s water free urinal system, and apologize, again, to Falcon Waterfree Technologies for doing so.
