Cities Crack Down on Buildings via Performance Standards

Despite the withdrawal of the U.S. from the Paris Agreement, many cities and states across the country have been moving forward with ambitious climate commitments. Boston plans to be carbon neutral by 2050. In that same year, New York City has pledged to cut its emissions by 80%. Washington, D.C. hopes to slash its carbon in half by 2032.

How will they get there? The answer is becoming increasingly clear: they will have to regulate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of existing buildings.
