"Case 2, Option 2: Benchmarking against Historical Data"

October 16, 2023

We like to seek for an advice for EAp2: Minimum Energy Performance, we are pursuing "Case 2, Option 2: Benchmarking against Historical Data" our quarries are listed below:

Declaration of historical year

The declared performance period of the project is from June 1, 2023 up to May 31 2024, with an establishment period of February 2023 up to May 2023. Our question is in terms of the historical year which of this approach should we consider

OPTION 1:

Year 1: January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2020

Year 2: January 1, 2021 – December 31, 2021

Year 3: January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022

OPTION 2:

Year 1: June 1, 2020 – May 31, 2023

Year 2: June 1, 2021 – May 31, 2022

Year 3: June 1, 2022 – May 31, 2023

Which of the two options should we consider to finalize the calculations?

HISTORICAL DATA

In line with our quarries in item no.1 which of the two options mentioned above should we consider in determining the historical annual production output.

ANNUAL PRODUCTION OUTPUT

Our project is using a group approach composed of two separate production building, Building 5 & Building 6. The project has a data for their annual production output but this data is combined for both building or should we break down for accurate computation for annual weather-normalized source energy use intensity

ELECTRIC METER READING (ENERGY BILLING)

The electric utility provider conducts its meter reading every 25th of the month, and the billing period (e.g. the billing period is from 25-July 2023 to 24-August 2023, and the billing date is 26-August 2023). Can we consider the data for the metering for this period for the month of August 2023?

LEED Certification for an Existing Building

August 15, 2023

Hi,
Is there a closing date for v4 now that we have v4.1?
We'll be registering for the LEED Certification of one of our properties for the first time.
Should we go for v4 or v4.1?

SMOKING SIGNAGE for EAp: Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control

SMOKING SIGNAGE for EAp: Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control

August 3, 2023

With regards to our LEED v4 O+M project (group approach).

Our project team is on the process on the of finalizing “NO SMOKING SIGNAGE’S” for the project. We have an existing signage’s found on project site (please refer to the screenshot below).

I would like to know if there are any specific requirements on the type of signage that should be put up. I have read in the reference guide an examples of signage’s indicating of "NO SMOKING WITHIN 25 FEET FROM THE BUILDING ENTRANCE".

Our question is, would the project existing signage’s is already acceptable or we need to comply with the signages indicated in the reference guide?

Hoping to merit your favorable response regarding our quires.

Vegetation above underground rainwater harvesting tank

Hi all, My question is regarding a landscape area calculation for Data center project. Currently design, the landscape area is including around 11% vegetation area above rainwater harvesting tank. so can we count the area or not and if not what is the solution to get point on this. Does anyone have expetience on the issue, please share me your experience. Thank you so much!

Charging for bicycle facilities

Charging for bicycle facilities

September 11, 2022

Is anyone aware of any explicit wording in LEEDv4 or v4.1 that explicitly states that bicycle parking needs to be provided free-of-charge? It was mention explicitly in 2009, but it appears that there is no explicit requirement for bicycle facilities to be provided free-of-charge to users in v4 or v4.1. While the intent would be to make it free-of-charge to users, I suspect that most building owners would have higher rents for office space in buildings that have bicycle end of trip facilities to cover the costs of running them.

The question comes from our office in Manila, Philippines, who have recently moved to new LEED Platiunum certified building, and it seems that access to the bicycle facilities is not included in the base tenancy rent and is an optional add-on. As such, our employees are not able to access them until it gets access gets added to the lease agreement. Essentially, we are wondering if anyone has come across a similar issue, and if anyone can point me to wording tucked away someplace in the v4 Reference Guide, or in a Credit Interpretation, that states bicycle facilities must be provided free-of-charge as part of the LEED credit?

District Cooling Systems

We are using the path for the EA Prerequisite 2 (Minimum Energy Performance),Performance Option 1-Streamlined Path) by modeling purchased cooling from an existing District Cooling Plant. Is there a chance we can pass this Prerequisite if the DCS chiller performances are below the baseline efficiencies?

Two unidentical buildings from same owner/management for what approach?

Forum discussion

Two unidentical buildings from same owner/management for what approach?

August 14, 2022

I would like to emphasize the general details of this project for LEED v4 or v4.1 O+M certification.

There are 2 existing buildings (Building A and B) in a property boundary and these are industrial/manufacturing type of buildings including office/management in both buildings. It is under 1 single owner and management, and the 2 buildings are completely separate to each other with an enclosed connecting bridge in between with chilled water and power supply connection, though they have independent chillers and power distribution. Building A is an old facility since year 1998, while Building B is newly constructed and firstly occupied last 2015. The buildings are mostly monitored by a single management for energy, water, waste, there are shuttle buses serving occupants of both buildings, and they are sharing parking areas. The owner wants to achieve LEED Gold for their buildings.

May I ask what is the best approach to use in the project: Campus, Group, or Individual Certification and what may be the Pros/Cons/Challenges of each approach in achieving the goal?

Note: I also noticed in the Reference Guide that some prerequisites and credits say "Ineligible" if using Campus Approach, and "Submit separate documents for each building" if using Group Approach. What does it mean?

Product meeting multiple MRc4 methodologies

Product meeting multiple MRc4 methodologies

June 13, 2021

Hi! Has anyone encountered a product that complies with more than one compliant MRc4 Methodologies? We've purchased a product that has a Declare (3rd party reviewed) certificate and a Cradle-to-Cradle, as well. Can I list the two of them so that I can get the points for both methodology (in this case, 1.5 for each certificate)?

Thanks!

The Regional priority credit lookup | U.S. Green Building Council (usgbc.org) is not currently working for project outside US. May I ask what is the threshold needed to comply with the regional priority for this credits applicable to our project in the Philippines?

Outdoor Pool as compliant outdoor space

Outdoor Pool as compliant outdoor space

May 26, 2020

Dear All,

We are currently working on a certification of a Residential project under LEED v4.1. and we have the following question regarding Open Space credit:

Can we consider the area of an outdoor pool as a compliant outdoor space?

In our opinion, it can be considered as a recreation-oriented paving area that encourages physical activity, such as the athletic field of example 2 of the Manual v4. Is this interpretation correct?

Thank you in advance.
