RTKL helped save $300 million over the original budget for the largest federal LEED Gold building to date, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency headquarters. A closely integrated design and delivery process was largely responsible, including a two-tiered retention basin that captures 100% of rainwater onsite and uses it for irrigation and for cooling, while also satisfying the agency’s security needs by keeping vehicles away from the building.
