The new Project Haiti orphanage, spearheaded by USGBC and designed by HOK, will be a facility known as a creche—a short-term orphanage that provides not only shelter but also rehydration, high-level medical care, and assessment for adoption eligibility. The 7,500 ft2 facility will be able to operate off the grid and will serve about 25 infants per month. Photo: U.S. Green Building Council
