This deep energy retrofit in Lowell, Massachusetts, used two layers of rigid mineral wool on the exterior and three layers of mineral wool batts on the roof. A pre-existing interior vapor retarder necessitated a wall assembly that could dry to the exterior, and the owner was attracted to the non-combustibility of mineral wool.
