Gosh, with only 1,057 exhibitors, we're up to 66 seconds per booth. Shave six seconds off of that and you might actually be able to grab lunch both days, AND hit the restroom. I sure wish they could keep the expo hall open on Friday as well.

Greenbuild 2009 Expo Hall: Some Math
This year's expo hall in Phoenix boasts over 1,800 exhibit booths showcasing the latest in innovative products and services.Were you there last year? That was 800 booths. Double that, and add some. At this writing, there are 1,057 exhibitors listed for this year; but let's assume that there will be at least the promised 1,800 by show time. Here's the expo hall schedule:
Tuesday 5:30pm - 8:00pm Wednesday 9:00am - 5:30pm Thursday 9:00am - 5:30pmThe Expo is open a total of 19.5 hours — which is 1,170 minutes... or 70,200 seconds. Divide those seconds by 1,800 booths. You have 39 seconds to linger at each one. If you visit only half the booths, the time goes up to 1:18 each. This is hilarious - wish we could offer a "temporary duplication service" or "time altering device," but we'll have to settle for our furniture (http://www.kimballoffice.com) and hope the hall-walking troopers spend at least 39 seconds with us! Looking forward to it either way.

This has always been the most daunting aspect of Greenbuild, namely finding enough time to immerse in the Expo and taking advantage of the sessions. Never enough time for both, and now it's even more problematic. I know the exhibitors are totally exhausted at the end of the event, but if there were just three or four more hours in there somehow...

As I understand it, some exhibitors have more than one booth space (for larger booths, etc.), so the 1800 exhibit booths and the 1057 exhibitors are not contradictory numbers.

Just got an email from USGBC:
Just got an email from USGBC: "Our Expo was also the largest to-date, with over 1100 exhibitors. We know there was so much to do and you may not have had enough time to do everything you wanted..." Mark, hopefully this year there's a booth sampling their human duplication machine so that you can hit the booths 10 at a time. Or maybe somebody is exhibiting a time altering device? Not sure how to claim either of those as "green" so maybe they'll just have to be booth swag...
