Green-e Offers Tradable Renewable Certificates
tradable renewable energy certificates (TRCs), allowing consumers nationwide to support electricity from wind, solar electric, geothermal, biomass, and certified low-impact hydro facilities.
CRS developed the voluntary Green-e Renewable Electricity Certification Program in 1997 to expand the retail market for green electricity and strengthen consumer confidence. Any electricity product carrying the Green-e logo, including green electricity offerings in competitive markets and utility green pricing programs in regulated markets, meets Green-e’s environmental and consumer protection standards. Due to limited competitive market activity, Green-e certified power has until now been available only in a handful of states.
