Mary Ann Lazarus, FAIA LEED AP BD+C, was a founder of the sustainable design initiative at HOK and recently served as the AIA Resident Fellow for Sustainability. Mary Ann has had a long-term focus on resilient design. She played an instrumental role in the green building community’s response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 that led to the USGBC’s New Orleans Principles. More recently, she led HOK’s efforts in the collaboration with the USGBC in the design of the new William Jefferson Clinton Child Center and Orphanage in Port au Prince Haiti. Mary Ann served on the Advisory Board for the Resilient Design Institute and co-led a team in the creation of three Resilient Design pilot credits for the LEED rating system which received approval in November 2015.
Mary Ann co-leads a consultancy focused on accelerating shifts in design of the built environment to sustainable and resilient outcomes as part of the Cameron MacAllister Group.
