BIO

Sara Hickman has over 12 years of experience in the field of green building, energy analysis and project management. Sara serves as the studio’s Sustainability Director where she drives environmentally responsible and healthy initiatives throughout the studio’s projects, fostering a creative and innovative culture around responsible design.

Prior to joining Studio One Eleven in 2017, Sara served as a consultant for Leading Edge, where she certified and managed over 20 million square feet of LEED certified space throughout the US. She has established herself as the sustainability expert for her team and clients.

Since joining Studio One Eleven Sara has driven the studio towards both LEED Platinum and WELL Gold designations, and is currently coordinating the facilities’ goals toward Net Zero Energy and Net Zero Waste. However, aside from certifications, her passion is with people. Educating colleagues and clients is the most effective way to ensure a successful future for our communities. In addition to her work with the profession, Sara is consistently involved in her community of Long Beach. She sits on the Downtown Long Beach Associates Public Realm Committee and is heavily engaged with Long Beach’s USGBC
Chapter.

She is a key resource for changing the way we think about design and building management. From sustainable purchasing and energy conservation to waste diversion and developing “green teams”, it is her goal to introduce integrative, cost effective, responsible ways of managing business and their operations.
