AIA’s 2016 Top Ten Span Difficult Building Types

The American Institute of Architects’ Committee on the Environment (COTE) Top Ten projects for 2016 show an impressive move toward higher performing buildings, with four of ten projects showing predicted or actual net-zero or net-positive energy use.

The winning projects were mostly designed when the energy reduction target set by the 2030 Commitment was 50%, the jury noted. But winners all met the newer, more stringent 60% reduction target that became active when they opened between 2012 and 2014.
